Whether one wants to protect his/her creation or want to use someone else’s work, it is important to have a thorough understanding of which type of Intellectual Property they are dealing with.

As per the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), China is now leading as the country with the greatest number of patent applications filed globally. Since the commencement of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) in 1978, the United States of America has held this position, which has now been taken over by China.

As we witness the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the digital transformation is at its peak and is in harmony with software development. Thus, the software industry and the development of various software-based technologies are anticipated to grow exponentially to sustain the transformation. From transportation to healthcare and from services to education, the software based inventions play a significant part in the transformation process across all industries.

On February 5,2020 the Library of Congress, Washington DC organized an event “Copyright in the age of Artificial Intelligence”, co-sponsored by the U.S. Copyright office and The World Intellectual Property Organization. The event started with a keynote addressed on the global perspectives of Copyright and AI by the Director General of WIPO, Francis Gurry.

The “DC Intellectual Property Forum” at the National Press Club in Washington DC held an event on January 29, 2020, “Uniting Cryptocurrency & Intellectual Property: Delivering the “X” Factor to Industry Hyper-Growth.” Promethus IP was represented by our Head of Operations in USA, Ms.Soujanya Sikha, who interacted extensively with the participants at the event.

Invention-Con 2019 was held on September 13-14, at the USPTO headquarters in Alexandria, Va. The agenda involved topics of interest to inventors and entrepreneurs. The speakers shared their experiences of bringing their ideas to the market. An overview of IPR and resources required to assist the applicants were discussed. The convention was about giving practical advice on navigating the Intellectual property process and strategies to protect them.
